Early life
John Neeson was born in Northern Ireland, his father Bernard Neeson is a caretaker at the Ballymena Boys All Saints Primary School and his mother Katherine, she is a cook. John Neeson was raised in a Roman
Catholic family. Elizabeth, Bernadette and Rosaline are his sisters. He has two sons and he live with his son in New York. He is widowed. John Neeson starts learning boxing at the All Saints Youth Club when he was nine. He became Ulster amateur senior boxing champion. At the age of Eleven John Neeson’s English teacher gave him a starred role in a school play. He accepted the role because the girl he likes would act in that play. He was also inspired to act by minister Ian Paisley.
John Neeson studied in St Patrick’s College, Ballymena Technical Collage and Queen’s University Belfast. He studied physics and computer science. Then he move to Dublin to join Abbey Theatre.
Personal life
John Neeson’s wife Natasha Richardson was an actress she died on 18th March 2009. She died of an accident at the Mount Treblant Resort, in Quebec. Michael and Daniel are their sons. John Neeson was a heavy smoker in his early career. John neeson love football he is a fan of Liverpool F.C. In March 2011 UNICEF appointed him as a Goodwill Ambassador.
Honours & awards
Queen Elizabeth II appointed Neeson Officer of the Order of the British Empire in her 1999 New Year Honours. At the The 2008 Dinner Gala in New York, American Ireland Fund honored Neeson with their Performing Arts Award for the great distinction he has brought to Ireland. Queen’s University, Belfast awarded an honorary doctorate to Neeson in 2009, at a ceremony in New York.
