Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman is a powerful actor. He was born in 1st June 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee. His mother’s name is Mayme Edna. She was a teacher. His Father’s name is Morgan Porterfield Freeman. He was a barber. Morgan’s father died in 27th April, 1961. He died of cirrhosis. Morgan was sent to his paternal grandmother in Charleston, Mississippi when he was a child. In his childhood his family shifted many places of America, during living in Greenwood, Mississippi. Morgan Freeman starts acting when he was nine. His first lead role was in a school play. He studies in Broad Street High School. Today the school runs as Threadgill Elementary School which is in Greenwood, Mississippi. At the age of 12 he won a statewide drama competition while studying there. He completes his graduation in 1955 from Broad Street. Then he serves the United States Air Force as a radar technician.
Acting career:

Morgan Freeman loved acting but he decided to join the Air Force. Afterwards he changes his mind and
began acting. At first he used to act in a small roll. After a few years he began to act in bigger roll and has won the heart of all the film loving people. To day he is one of the Hollywood stars. His popularity is world wide.

In 1960 Morgan moved to Los Angeles, California to take acting lessons from the Pasadena Playhouse, he also took dancing lessons from San Francisco. He works as a transcript clerk at Los Angeles Community College. After that he move to New York City there he works as a dancer in World’s Fair in 1964. He was a member of Opera Ring musical theater group which was in San Francisco.
In 1980 he received Obie Award for the title role in Cariolanus, he also won another Obie Award in 1984. In 1989 he own Obie Award for the third time. Morgan won a Drama Desk Award and a Clarence Derwent Award. In 1978 Morgan was nominated for the Tony Award for the best performance by a Featured Actor in the play The Mighty Gents. In 1997 he received an honorary degree from Rhodes College for becoming an honorary alumnus. In 2003 Morgan received the Crystal Globe award for his great artistic contribution to world cinema at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. In 2006 he receives the Guest of honor at the Cairo International Film Festival. In 2007 he and his wife received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters; he also got Screen Nation Film and TV Awards for his contribution to film and TV. In 2008 he received Kennedy Center Honors. In 2010 he gets an honorary degree from Brown University. In 2011 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the America Film Institute. In 2012 he was chosen as favorite movie icon at the people’s Choice Awards and Cecil B, DeMille Award.
